Greg Smith / Bio

Greg has been playing bass since 1977. Some of his early influences include John Paul Jones,
Glenn Hughes, Gary Thain, Geezer Butler, and Geddy Lee. Influences that are more recent include
Rocco Prestia, James Jamerson, Duck Dunne and Jaco Pastorius. Greg did his first major tour with ex-Plasmatics punk rock icon "Wendy O. Williams",
when he was just 20 years old. He was hand picked by Gene Simmons who was producing Wendy's album called "WOW".
Greg did the multi-national tour for this album and soon to follow, he played on the album titled "Kommander of Kaos", "F*ck & Roll EP,
the "Live from London" concert video, and the "Reform School Girls" movie soundtrack. After Greg left the "Wendy O. Williams" band,
he met world renowned drummer, and fellow Long Islander, Joe Franco. Joe introduced him to guitar virtuoso Vinnie Moore. After a 7
month stint with popular Swiss artist Steve Thomson including recording the album "Everyone loves a Winner", and a tour of Europe,
Greg recorded Vinnie's "Meltdown" album. They performed together with Joe Franco, at many music trade shows such as NAMM. Greg and
Vinnie were asked to join Alice Cooper's band for the "Hey Stoopid" tour. This tour took them to Stadiums performing throughout the USA and Europe. Vinnie
soon left to pursue his solo career, and Greg stayed on to continue his experiences with Alice Cooper. These included filming the major
motion picture "Wayne's World", and recording the album "Last Temptation". The touring for "Last Temptation" album took Greg to South American soccer
stadiums as part of the "sold out" "Monsters of Rock" tour. Between touring and recording with Alice, Greg found time to be part of the
critically acclaimed band "Red Dawn". The bands album "Never say Surrender", features top-notch musicianship on the part of all members involved, and showcases Greg's distinctive style of playing, and singing backing vocals.
During this time, Greg also recorded an album with New York based band "Tonto Tonto", and met ex-Rainbow / Deep Purple vocalist Joe Lynn Turner.
Greg's experience with Joe started with a tour of the Midwest. Greg, and Joe became fast friends and to this day, he has done 4 albums
with Joe. In 1994, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore asked Greg, to join the reformation of "Rainbow", and Greg recorded the "Stranger in us All" album.
Between the recording of "Stranger in us All," and the tour for this album, Greg was asked by friend, fellow "Red Dawn" member, and current "Blue Oyster Cult" drummer Chuck Burgi, to handle the Bass, and Backing vocals duties on "Blue Oyster Cult's" summer tour of 1995.
Greg participated in this successful tour and upon completion of "BOC's" tour, Greg toured extensively with "Rainbow" in the USA, Japan, South America, and Europe in support of the "Stranger in us All" album. Greg toured the USA and Canada with Alice Cooper in support of the "Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper" box set, and toured with Alice in support of his release "Brutal Planet". That tour took him throughout the U.S., Australia, Western Europe and to many Eastern European countries such as Estonia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, St. Petersburg, and Moscow Russia. Greg just completed touring the U.S. in support of Alice's latest release, "Dragon Town", and is currently rehearsing for the new Broadway musical "Movin Out" which will include the music of Billy Joel and the Choreography of Twyla Tharp. Greg resides in Northampton County, PA with his wife Cristina, and his dog---

Dino.
